Calls between Metros and Telecom Circles to cost less

Calls originating and terminating within a state is now a local call and no longer a STD call. This applies to calls from mobile to mobile and landline to mobile . No more STD charges for dialing within the state of Tamilnadu.

No zero required for dialing from a landline in Chennai to a mobile in rest of the state of Tamilnadu.
No zero required for dialing from a mobile in Chennai to a mobile in rest of the state of Tamilnadu.
No zero required for dialing from a landline in rest of Tamilnadu to a mobile in Chennai.
No zero required for dialing from a mobile in rest of Tamilnadu to a mobile in Chennai.

However Zero dialing (i.e. STD Code) is to be prefixed for dialing from mobile to landline.
'95' access is already available and will continue to be available for all landline(basic) numbers in Tamilnadu including Chennai to access any other landline(basic) number within Tamilnadu

Calls from Basic including WLL of BSNL

All calls from Basic including WLL of BSNL within Tamilnadu Circle including Chennai will be treated as intra-circle calls only. Calls from basic to all Cellular networks including UASP of other service area in same State to be charged at a pulse rate of 45 seconds and 60 seconds in case of BSNL Cellular Network as below

These rates will be applicable for Trunk calls and calls from STD/ISD PCOs also.

STD barred Cellular customers will also be given access to the calls in the other service area of the same States without ‘0’ on level ‘9’ itself.

Calls from Cellular to all Cellular/fixed network

All calls from Cellular to all Cellular/fixed network of the Tamilnadu State including Chennai will be charged at intra-circle tariff as per respective cellular plan of the calling subscriber

Cellular subscribers of one service area while in deemed roaming in another service area within the same state are not to be charged roaming charges for incoming calls. Further, such roaming subscribers are to be charged home network plan tariff while making calls from anywhere within the state as a whole.

The revised rates will be effective from 25th May 2005 (midnight of 24th and 25th of May 2005).
