Mail POP3 Configuration for Datone Broadband services

  1. Procedure to Configure Mail Client (MS Outlook Express) for receiving email from userid@dataone.in
  2. Procedure to Configure Mail Client (MS Outlook Express) for receiving emails from other POP3 accounts using BSNL's DataOne Broadband connection

1. Procedure to Configure Mail Client (MS Outlook Express) for receiving email from userid@dataone.in

  • In Outlook or Outlook Express click the Tools menu; then select Accounts. 
  • Click the Mail tab in the window that comes up. On Clicking Add -> Mail, A wizard will launch; Click Next.  
    Enter your name (i.e. Your full name or designation or Name(designation) or as you please )  
  • Enter your e-mail address (i.e. userid@dataone.in)
  • Click Next
  • In the next step of the wizard it will request for Mail Server type and addresses on names 
    --> My incoming mail server is a, select POP3;  
    --> Enter Incoming mail POP3 Server as smma.dataone.in 
    --> Enter the outgoing mail (SMTP) Server as smra.dataone.in
    Click Next  
  • Enter your account name (i.e.userid {everything before the @ in your e-mail address})  
  • Enter password -> ********* ; Click Next and then Finish.  
  • Then go to Tools -> Accounts -> Mail -> Properties -> Servers -> In the outgoing mail server, enable "My server requires authentication".
  • Next to that in the settings, select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".

This completes Outlook or Outlook Express configuration. 

To Leave a copy of the mails on the Server:

  • Go to Tools -> Accounts -> Mail -> Properties -> Advanced ->
    and select (tick) the option "Leave a copy of messages on the server" . Do not select anything else.
2.Procedure to Configure Mail Client (MS Outlook Express) for receiving emails from other POP3 accounts using BSNL's DataOne Broadband connection

Open Outlook Express. Select Tools->Accounts and click on the other POP3 account (if you have not already configured this account you would have to add this account with a similar procedure as given above using the   POP3 and SMTP addresses given by your mail-box provider ) . Click properties. Click Servers. You would have checked 'My server requires authentication'. If not check it and select settings. Select  'log on using' and give the userid and password of your broadband connection.

Check 'Remember password' . Do not change any other options. Click OK.  That's all.

 

Occasionally delete messages from your mail box so that it odes not become unwieldy. If your mail-box is full you will not receive any new mails.

It is in your own interest to download the messages to your machine and view it at your leisure and delete the unwanted messages from you mail-box.
